I love pastels for both their immediacy and the challenge of layering to achieve the desired effect -- while allowing the intensity and verve of the pastel to spring forth.  My earlier work in printmaking has helped me see areas in large blocks of value and color, providing a solid basis for my paintings.  In many of my compositions there are areas of significant contrast between light and darkness.  I particularly drawn to paintings of the human figure – lately in a series of paintings of “ordinary people doing ordinary things.  Christine Cobb

The paintings of award-winning artist Christine Cobb have been exhibited throughout the United States in galleries and cultural centers, including the Pastel Society of America in New York City, the Wayne Art Center in Philadelphia, and the Art Center of Sarasota, Florida.
